Zion National Park
Located about 35 minutes northeast of St. George is one of the most beautiful destinations that you can find. The National Park is one of the most popular in the U.S. and it’s hikes and views give a good indication as to why it is so visited by people from all around the world. There are hikes both easy and hard depending on the age range of family members. Angels Landing is a popular hike with its steep red cliffs and amazing views of the park from above. Aside from the hikes and views, you can find a wide variety of shopping and great restaurants to eat at while visiting. Sand Hollow State Park
Sand Hollow is often times referred to as “Mini Lake Powell” by the locals of St. George. This is because of its similarities of beauty from the red rock and water color/temperature. Popular activities at Sand Hollow include: boating, jet skiing, paddle boarding, cliff jumping, fishing and it doesn’t stop there. Even if you don’t have a boat or don’t want to rent one, Sand Hollow has a beach with soft red sand that kids love to play in. There is enough to do for everyone in the family at Sand Hollow.
Tuacahn Amphitheater
Enjoy a nice musical with the whole family as you sit back and relax with one of the most stunning backdrops Utah. Tuacahn Amphitheater is an outdoor performing arts venue set against an amazing backdrop of beautiful red cliffs near Snow Canyon State Park. The outdoor theater produces family-friendly musicals from the months of May-October and has year round events as well. Halloween and Christmas are popular times to attend with the family.
The Children’s Museum
In the heart of downtown St. George, you can find the new 2 floor Children’s Museum located in the historic Dixie Academy Building. For $5 per person, kids can participate in hands-on activities that will keep them entertained and having fun. The Children’s Museum has plenty of activities for kids under the age of 12. Located next door to the museum is a splash pad and carousel that can also be fun for the children before you head back home.
Dinosaur Discovery
The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm is a fun activity for dinosaur lovers of all ages. The family-friendly museum was constructed in the 2000’s when a large amount of dinosaur tracks, skin prints, swim tracks, and tail drags were discovered. Amongst the boardwalk where you will walk and learn about the different ways the dinosaurs behaved, you will find a display room with plenty of activities for the children. There is also a play area with picnic tables if you want to make a day out of it and bring a lunch.
